Liverpool to Honour Diogo Jota with Touching Tributes Ahead of 2025/26 Season
Liverpool FC are planning a series of heartfelt tributes to Diogo Jota for the 2025/26 season, following the tragic deaths of the Portuguese forward and his brother, Andre Silva, in a car accident in north-western Spain on July 3.
The footballing world continues to mourn the loss, with players, fans, and clubs alike expressing their sorrow. Liverpool have already announced the retirement of Jota’s number 20 shirt, and now the club is preparing further lasting tributes to honour his memory.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool will wear custom shirts and jackets bearing a special ‘Forever 20’ emblem throughout the season. Additionally, a memorial sculpture is set to be installed at Anfield, becoming a permanent tribute to the beloved forward.
To further preserve his legacy, the LFC Foundation will launch a new grassroots initiative in Jota’s name, aimed at supporting youth football and community projects.
During Liverpool’s pre-season tour of Asia, players will wear shirts featuring a ‘Diogo J 20’ patch, with floral tributes laid before each match in Hong Kong, Yokohama, and at Anfield.
Following Liverpool’s switch from Nike to Adidas on August 1, all kits will feature the ‘Forever 20’ emblem stitched into the lower seam. Supporters will also have the option to print ‘Diogo J 20’ on official kits, with all proceeds going to the LFC Foundation’s charitable initiatives.
Over recent weeks, fans have gathered at Anfield, leaving flowers, scarves, and messages in tribute. Club staff have carefully preserved these items—floral offerings are being composted and used in the club’s gardens, while other mementos will be recycled and incorporated into the final memorial sculpture.
While the design of the sculpture is still being finalised, the number 20 will feature prominently. In the meantime, a temporary reflection space has been established outside the Main Stand, offering fans a place to continue paying their respects.
Diogo Jota’s legacy at Liverpool will not be forgotten—through these tributes, the club is ensuring that his memory lives on at Anfield and far beyond.
