Liverpool Turn to Parmaβs Leoni After Guehi Bid Rejected
Liverpool have shifted focus to Parma defender Giovanni Leoni after seeing their move for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi turned down.
The Reds had hoped to bring in Guehi as part of their summer rebuild, but Palace rejected their approach and remain determined to keep the England international.
Attention has now turned to 18-year-old Leoni, one of Serie Aβs most promising young defenders, with plans for him to join immediately if a deal can be struck. The fee is expected to be around β¬30β35 million, and personal terms are believed to be close to agreed.
Leoni made 17 league appearances for Parma last season and has drawn praise for his composure, physicality, and ability to play out from the back. He would provide depth following Jarell Quansahβs sale to Bayer Leverkusen and Joe Gomezβs latest injury, and is seen as a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk.
