Giovanni Leoni Transfer: Liverpool Seal £26m Deal for Parma Defender
Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign 18-year-old centre-back Giovanni Leoni from Parma in a deal worth £26 million plus add-ons.
The agreement was finalised late on Wednesday, with Leoni set to travel to Merseyside to complete his medical and agree personal terms. The process is expected to begin on Thursday.
The Reds faced stiff competition from several top Serie A clubs and Premier League rivals, but the highly rated defender made it clear that his preference was a move to Arne Slot’s Liverpool project.
Leoni will go straight into the first-team squad for the upcoming season, with any possibility of a loan spell dismissed.
The move comes as Liverpool step up their defensive rebuild, particularly with Ibrahima Konaté entering the final year of his contract.
