Arne Slot’s debut campaign at Anfield could hardly have gone better. The Gunners have also held preliminary talks over Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, but Gordon’s proven Premier League pedigree makes him an attractive, ready-made option.
Why Gordon Fits the Bill
Gordon’s versatility is a key asset. Naturally a left-winger—much like Díaz—he also proved last season he can operate centrally when Newcastle were without Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak. His pace, directness, and finishing make him exactly the type of forward Slot could use to refresh his frontline.
Troy Deeney once described Gordon’s display against Arsenal as “wonderful,” and that kind of high-energy performance is what Liverpool would want to harness week in, week out at Anfield.
A Now-or-Never Moment
With Arsenal circling and other top-six clubs monitoring the situation, Liverpool may need to act decisively. If Slot truly wants Gordon as part of his title-defending squad, this could be the moment to move aggressively—or risk watching him join a direct rival.
