Liverpool and Man Utd go head-to-head to sign Premier League star

Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are set to clash in the transfer market as they compete to sign one top Premier League player.

With just over two weeks remaining before the transfer window shuts on September 1, several Premier League giants are racing to complete late business.

Liverpool are pushing to land their priority target, Alexander Isak, in what would be a blockbuster attacking addition, while Tottenham are stepping up efforts to sign Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze — a player previously linked with Arsenal.

Elsewhere, Manchester United are recalibrating their plans after missing out on Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, despite tabling an offer in the region of £100m. Attention has already shifted to a new midfield target, but United are set to face stiff competition, with both Liverpool and Spurs monitoring the same player.

The stage is now set for a dramatic finale to the summer market, as England’s biggest clubs battle it out for the signatures that could define.

According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur have all set their sights on Brentford captain Nathan Collins as their next defensive target.

For Liverpool, Collins could provide vital reinforcement at centre-back amid ongoing speculation that Ibrahima Konaté may depart either this summer or in 2026. The Reds have already secured the signing of highly-rated Giovanni Leoni from Serie A side Parma in a £26m deal, while also pursuing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi as part of their wider defensive rebuild.

Manchester United, meanwhile, remain interested in strengthening their backline, having previously signed Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford earlier in the window. However, their ability to make further moves will depend heavily on potential outgoings, with Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho among those linked with exits from Old Trafford.

With all three clubs circling, Brentford could soon face a major battle to keep hold of their skipper as the transfer window edges towards its dramatic conclusion.

Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Thomas Frank — who made the switch from Brentford to Spurs in June — is reportedly pushing to reunite with Nathan Collins, having previously managed the defender during his time with the Bees. Collins is understood to be Frank’s top defensive target as he looks to shore up Spurs’ backline.

However, Brentford are reluctant to sanction another high-profile departure. Having already sold former captain Christian Nørgaard and winger Bryan Mbeumo this summer, with striker Yoane Wissa also expected to leave before the deadline, the West London club are under no pressure to cash in on Collins.

As their newly-appointed captain, Brentford would prefer to keep hold of the Republic of Ireland international for the upcoming campaign, meaning any bids from Spurs, Liverpool, or Manchester United are likely to be firmly rejected.
