Man Utd’s wage bill ‘leaked’ as fans left stunned by the top 10 highest-paid players

Manchester United’s wage bill for the 2024/25 season has been revealed including the top ten highest earners in the squad.

Manchester United, despite having one of the most expensively assembled squads in history, have yet to meet expectations under Erik ten Hag. After finishing eighth in the Premier League last season, the Red Devils have made a poor start to the current campaign, losing two of their first three matches, including a 3-0 defeat to rivals Liverpool.

United’s minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is working with sporting director Dan Ashworth, chief executive Omar Berrada, and others to overhaul the squad. They are reportedly looking to offload several senior players to free up funds for new signings in January and next summer.

The Sun has highlighted United’s substantial wage bill, with Casemiro topping the list at £375,000 per week following his £70 million move from Real Madrid in 2022. The club is reportedly keen to sell the veteran midfielder, with Galatasaray being a potential destination. Captain Bruno Fernandes also earns £375,000 per week, while Marcus Rashford, who earns £350,000, has been linked with a move away due to a challenging 2024. Mason Mount, who joined for £55 million from Chelsea in 2023, ranks fourth with wages of £250,000 per week but has scored just once so far.

Another player rumored to be moving to Turkish football, Antony, is fifth on the list with wages of £200,000 per week. The winger, who has had only a brief appearance this season, is reportedly a target for Fenerbahce.

The top 10 earners also include Matthijs de Ligt (£195,000), Harry Maguire (£190,000), Christian Eriksen (£150,000), Luke Shaw (£150,000), and Victor Lindelof (£120,000). The list does not account for Jadon Sancho, who is currently on loan at Chelsea and reportedly earns £250,000 per week.

United fans on social media have reacted with surprise at these rankings and some of the names included. One supporter posted on X, “I don’t see any player deserving those wages; even Bruno doesn’t deserve £375k a week.” Another added, “Looking at these wages compared to the quality of the players… it’s actually mind-blowing.”
