Liverpool Preparing £130m Bid for Alexander Isak

Liverpool are reportedly set to make a record-breaking offer for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, with sources suggesting an initial bid of £130 million plus add-ons, potentially creating a British transfer record.

The move comes as Newcastle prepare to bolster their attack with the €69.2 million signing of Germany international Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart. Eddie Howe is also exploring other forward options, including Wolverhampton’s Jorgen Strand Larsen and Brentford’s Yoane Wissa. Newcastle’s valuation of Isak stands at £150 million, but with the new arrivals, his departure could now be more feasible.

Earlier this month, Liverpool had a £110 million bid rejected, and tensions have grown between Isak and Newcastle, with the 25-year-old reportedly training away from the first team and publicly accusing the club of breaking promises to allow his exit. Fans, meanwhile, have expressed frustration at Isak’s determination to leave despite his contributions to the club’s recent domestic success and Champions League qualification.

Howe has repeatedly denied guaranteeing Isak a move, stating he makes no promises to players regarding transfers. He added that while he may have a footballing preference, he is not in control of transfer negotiations and will let discussions take their course.

Liverpool’s interest in Isak has remained strong throughout the summer window, with the club also completing signings like Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz to strengthen their squad as they aim to defend the Premier League title. The coming days are expected to be decisive in determining whether the Sweden international will make the move to Anfield.
