Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney has once again stirred controversy in the football world by harshly criticizing Ruben Amorim’s coaching methods, branding him a “Baby Coach” and warning that without immediate changes, United could face another wasted season.
Following United’s hard-fought 3-2 win over Burnley at Old Trafford, Rooney admitted that while the victory was important, the performance itself was deeply troubling. The former captain believes Amorim is repeatedly making the same tactical errors that have plagued United in recent weeks — mistakes Rooney claims could ultimately cost the manager his job.
“When I called Amorim a ‘Baby Coach,’ many fans thought I was attacking him. That’s not the case. I want United to succeed,” Rooney insisted. “But he refuses to adapt. His stubborn tactics are costing us matches we should be winning with ease. Just look at the Grimsby game — it was unacceptable. Yet his decisions keep putting the team at risk.”
According to Rooney, Amorim’s main flaw is his fixation on attacking football at the expense of defensive stability. While the approach has delivered goals, it has also left United exposed at the back, allowing weaker sides to take advantage.
The Burnley game highlighted this problem once again. United were in control but allowed their opponents back into the contest, nearly throwing away the result. Rooney warned that such lapses will be disastrous against stronger teams.
“This isn’t Sporting Lisbon — this is Manchester United,” Rooney stressed. “You don’t get the luxury of experimenting here. If Amorim doesn’t change quickly, the same supporters defending him today will be the ones demanding his dismissal tomorrow.”
With tension growing around Old Trafford, Amorim still enjoys backing from the board, but doubts are mounting with every shaky display. Rooney’s scathing remarks may be the clearest signal yet that United’s so-called “Baby Coach” must mature quickly — or risk losing it all.
