Liverpool completed a dramatic deadline-day signing by bringing in Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, and the striker is now eager to get back to consistent playing time.
The Swedish international had missed Newcastle’s pre-season and even refused to take part in their opening Premier League matches, effectively going on strike to push through his move to Anfield.
Isak has since returned to action with the national team, making an appearance for Sweden against Kosovo after sitting out their previous clash with Slovenia. Coming off the bench late in the game, the 25-year-old delivered a sharp cameo and looked dangerous despite his lack of recent minutes. His outing wasn’t without controversy, though, as he clashed with defender Fidan Aliti, grabbing him by the shirt in a heated exchange (via talkSPORT). While he didn’t score, his energy and movement were encouraging signs.
Liverpool will be counting on Isak to adapt quickly, especially after breaking the British transfer record to secure his services. The Reds view him as a potential difference-maker in attack, following an inconsistent campaign with Darwin Núñez leading the line.
Alongside Isak, Liverpool also boast Hugo Ekitike, who has already netted three goals across competitions. Together, the two forwards could inject fresh dynamism and elevate Jürgen Klopp’s attacking options to new heights this season.
