Liverpool have enjoyed a hectic summer transfer window and are already preparing for even bigger moves in the near future, sources have told CaughtOffside.
The Reds are keen to keep bolstering their squad with top-level talent, with Michael Olise and Marc Guehi emerging as priority targets.
According to contacts within the agents’ circle, Liverpool remain confident of landing Guehi on a free transfer when his contract with Crystal Palace expires next summer. Palace blocked a late move for the England international in the most recent window, but the expectation now is that he will run down his deal and depart without a fee.
Liverpool confident despite rival interest in Guehi
While Real Madrid and other clubs have been mentioned as potential suitors, Liverpool are unfazed by the competition. One insider stressed that the Merseyside club are “confident” they lead the race, having already agreed personal terms with Guehi earlier this year. Reports of Madrid’s interest, sources close to Liverpool insist, are seen as little more than background noise.
Olise lined up as Salah’s successor
Liverpool are also monitoring Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise as a possible long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah. The Frenchman is thought to be valued at around £87m, though some sources suggest there may be a clause—or at least a verbal understanding—that could lower the asking price for Premier League clubs.
Olise is believed to be open to returning to England, and Liverpool view him as a natural heir to Salah. “Olise is top of Liverpool’s list,” a source revealed.
Although Bayern would be reluctant to lose such an important player, their attack was strengthened this summer with the arrival of Luis Díaz, giving them considerable depth in wide positions.
