Al-Khelaifi plans to sign Barcelona star for free: the Player refuses to renew

Paris Saint-Germain is closely watching the situations of several Barcelona players, aiming to replicate their past successes with transfers like Neymar Jr., Lionel Messi, Xavi Simons, and Ousmane Dembélé. Nasser Al-Khelaifi is methodically planning a new strategy against Joan Laporta, focusing on players of interest to Luis Enrique, including Pedri Gonzalez, Ronald Araujo, Pablo Baez “Gavi”, Jules Kounde, and Alejandro Balde.

According to El Nacional, Frenkie de Jong is now the focal point of their interest. PSG officials are reportedly obsessed with acquiring the Dutch midfielder, having been in contact with his representatives to persuade him to leave Barcelona for Ligue 1.

Frenkie de Jong, who missed much of the previous season and the European Championship due to ankle issues, may face further delays and potentially need surgery. Despite this, Paris Saint-Germain is prepared to wait until the next transfer window to sign him. They have already strengthened their midfield with Joao Neves and Desiree Doue, and still have Vitinha and Warren Zaire-Emery. De Jong’s addition would significantly enhance their squad.

Al-Khelaifi is keen to acquire De Jong without paying a large fee and has devised a strategy to achieve this. PSG has approached De Jong to persuade him not to renew his contract with Barcelona, which runs until 2026. If De Jong declines to renew, he could leave on a free transfer, allowing PSG to sign him at a more affordable price next summer. Currently, De Jong is turning down Barcelona’s extension offers and refusing to lower his high salary, which is the highest in La Liga. If this stance continues, his departure seems likely, and PSG is ready to welcome him.
