Arteta Confirms Fresh Injury Blow as Odegaard Re-Injures Shoulder in Arsenalâs Win Over Forest
Arsenalâs 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday came at a cost, with captain Martin Ădegaard forced off in the first half after re-injuring the same shoulder that troubled him earlier this season.
The Norwegian midfielder collided awkwardly with Morgan Gibbs-White and teammate Jurrien Timber, landing heavily before being replaced by Ethan Nwaneri.
Ădegaard had previously suffered a shoulder issue in August against Leeds, but he recovered quickly enough to feature against Liverpool and represent Norway during the international break.
Speaking after the match, manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the injury was to the same shoulder but downplayed fears of anything long-term.
âIt is a very similar injury,â Arteta said. âHe wasnât comfortable to continue. He played two games for Norway and couldnât carry on today. Weâll assess him with the doctors, but Iâm confident heâll try everything to be ready for Tuesday.â
When asked if surgery might be required, Arteta dismissed the idea, saying the medical team âwere not worried at that level at all.â
The Gunners, already without Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, now face an anxious wait on their skipper ahead of a pivotal week â their Champions League opener against Athletic Club on Tuesday, followed by a heavyweight Premier League clash with Manchester City at the Emirates next Sunday.
