Barcelona’s Marc Bernal Celebrates Emotional Return After Long Injury Layoff
Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal expressed his delight after making his long-awaited return from a serious knee injury that kept him sidelined for more than a year. The 18-year-old entered the closing stages of Barcelona’s clash with Valencia, replacing Pedri, and was met with a warm ovation from the crowd at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
“I’m very happy, really pleased. All my teammates and the staff came to congratulate me,” Bernal told Barça One after the match.
Reflecting on his recovery, Bernal admitted it had been a grueling process: “It has been a very tough road, a hard process, but today ended with a very beautiful day. It helped me become stronger and get to know myself better.”
The teenager also shared the emotional side of his comeback: “I’m happy for the assist, but above all for the three points. I thought of my family, especially my mother, with whom I spent a month locked in a hotel, and also of the physio, Borja, who suffered more than me.”
Bernal’s return marks a heartwarming milestone, with his perseverance and resilience earning admiration from teammates, staff, and fans alike.
