Alexander Isak’s stats have emerged after he made his official Liverpool debut against Atletico Madrid.
Alexander Isak’s Liverpool debut was one of the big talking points after their thrilling Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.
On a buzzing night at Anfield, Liverpool and Atletico produced a European classic. Early goals from Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah put Arne Slot’s side in control at 2-0, but Marcos Llorente struck twice to drag the visitors level. Just when it looked like points would be shared, Virgil van Dijk rose highest to head home a dramatic late winner, sealing a 3-2 victory and preserving Liverpool’s perfect start to the 2025/26 season.
Isak, who joined from Newcastle United this summer in a British-record £125 million deal, featured from the start as he made his long-awaited debut. The Swedish striker was substituted in the 57th minute, with Hugo Ekitike coming on in his place.
Alexander Isak’s numbers from his Liverpool debut have quickly surfaced online after the dramatic win over Atletico Madrid.
As reported by CBS Sports, the striker recorded 25 touches in his 57-minute appearance, four of which came inside the opposition box. He registered two attempts on goal — one on target — while also delivering two passes into the final third and creating a chance. Notably, he wasn’t dispossessed once during the match.
Vice-captain Andy Robertson was full of praise for the new signing after the game:
“I thought Isak was excellent. He hasn’t really had a pre-season, but especially in the first half he was superb. Naturally, he tired, and it’s brilliant to have someone like Hugo come on. They’re the future of this club and will only get better.
“We’ve had a lot of young players join, and at Liverpool the standards are extremely high. It’s a club that demands everything from you, with huge responsibility and pressure — but we’ve embraced that, and I’m sure these lads will too.”
Next up, Arne Slot’s side turns their attention back to the Premier League, with the first Merseyside Derby of the 2025/26 campaign awaiting against Everton at Anfield this weekend.
