A damning Alexander Isak stat has emerged after Liverpool’s dreadful defeat by Galatasaray.
Liverpool Fall Flat in Istanbul as Osimhen Penalty Sinks Reds
Liverpoolโs turbulent week went from bad to worse on Tuesday night as Arne Slotโs men slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Galatasaray at Rams Park, leaving Istanbul empty-handed in the Champions League.
Just days after their Premier League disappointment against Crystal Palace, the Reds produced another sluggish display, undone by Victor Osimhenโs first-half penalty.
Isakโs Damning Stat
Chasing the game in the second half, Slot turned to Mohamed Salah and big-money signing Alexander Isak. But the changes failed to spark any improvement.
In fact, Isakโs cameo quickly went viral for all the wrong reasons โ the ยฃ record signing managed just four touches and two successful passes in over 30 minutes on the pitch.
The Athleticโs James Pearce summed it up bluntly on social media:
โIsak was on the field for over half an hour and had just four touches.โ
Pundits React
Former Reds striker Daniel Sturridge urged calm despite the back-to-back defeats:
โYou can see the chemistry is not right. But now is not the time to panic.โ
Ex-Chelsea winger Pat Nevin was more critical, telling BBC Radio 5 Live:
โLiverpool left it until 15, 20 minutes to go before they turned up the pace. Victor Osimhen could have had two or three. Galatasaray were handed opportunities and it could have been worse than 1-0.โ
Slotโs Response
Speaking after the match, Arne Slot admitted his frustration:
โAgain disappointed because you lose. Football is about winning. First half we played quite well, but weโve now lost twice in a row. Galatasaray away isnโt an easy fixture, nor was Palace. The margins are really small.โ
