Barcelona ‘Make Decision’ on Marcus Rashford Permanent Transfer After Ten Games

Barcelona have reportedly decided on whether to pursue a potential permanent transfer for Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford.

Marcus Rashford, 27, made a surprise move to Barcelona on a season-long loan from Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

Since arriving in Spain, the England international has rediscovered his form under new boss Hansi Flick, contributing three goals and five assists in ten appearances. His first La Liga goal came in Sunday’s 4–1 defeat to Sevilla.

The only setback in an otherwise positive start was an incident early on when Rashford arrived late for training, which saw him dropped to the bench for the next league fixture against Getafe.

Aside from that, his performances have impressed both fans and pundits, earning him another call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.

Now, speculation is growing over whether his stay in Catalonia could become permanent next summer.

According to SPORT, as cited by Tribal Football, Barcelona are considering activating the purchase clause in Rashford’s loan deal. However, discussions are ongoing due to the club’s well-known financial constraints.

The option to buy is reportedly set at £26.2 million, though Rashford—whose contract with Manchester United runs until June 2028—would likely need to accept a reduced salary from his current £315,000-per-week wages to make the move viable.

Tribal Football adds that Barcelona’s hierarchy are expected to seek a lower transfer fee, with negotiations potentially influenced by La Liga’s financial fair play rules, which require clubs to balance spending on wages with income.

A separate report from the Mirror claims United have already agreed to let Barcelona complete a permanent transfer next summer for around £26 million, with the Spanish side taking on Rashford’s full wages. However, neither club nor Rashford’s representatives have officially confirmed this.

Rashford has made little effort to hide his enthusiasm for life in Catalonia. Speaking in September, the 27-year-old expressed his wish to remain at Barcelona “for as many seasons as possible,” signalling his openness to making the move permanent.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has also reported that Barcelona’s hierarchy are “very positive” about Rashford’s impact so far, adding that the forward is “not even thinking about returning to Manchester United” at this stage.

Following the international break—where England are set to face Wales in a friendly and Latvia in a World Cup qualifier—Rashford will rejoin Hansi Flick’s squad as Barcelona continue their La Liga campaign.
