Fabrizio Romano Reveals Liverpool’s Firm Decision on Arne Slot’s Future
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool have made a clear and unwavering decision regarding Arne Slot’s position as manager. Despite growing pressure following a poor run of results, the club remain fully supportive of the Dutch coach.
Slot enjoyed a dream debut campaign at Anfield, guiding Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season. However, his second year has been far more turbulent. The Reds currently sit seventh in the table, having lost four of their opening nine league matches, and are seven points behind leaders Arsenal.
The situation worsened earlier this week when Liverpool were knocked out of the EFL Cup after a 3–0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield — their sixth loss in seven matches across all competitions. Frustration among supporters has begun to mount, prompting fresh speculation about Slot’s future.
Liverpool Still Backing Slot — For Now
According to Romano, there is no immediate threat to Slot’s job. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the transfer insider made it clear that the club hierarchy remain united in their belief that Slot is the right man to lead them forward.
“Inside Liverpool — and by that I mean the ownership, the board, and everyone running the club — there is complete belief in Arne Slot,” Romano explained.
“They are totally convinced he is the right manager to guide them through this moment. Yes, the start has been disappointing, but Liverpool are confident things will improve. They believe he just needs time to evaluate the squad, work with the new signings, and restore last season’s mentality. There is strong communication every day between Slot and the club’s decision-makers.”
Despite fan unrest, the message from the top is one of patience and trust. The belief is that the Dutchman simply needs more time to integrate summer arrivals such as Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, and to rediscover the intensity that defined last season’s title-winning side.
Squad Rotation and Upcoming Tests
Slot made ten changes to the starting lineup that lost to Brentford at the weekend, with Milos Kerkez the only player to keep his place in the EFL Cup defeat to Palace. Several fringe and academy players were handed rare starts, as Slot appeared to prioritize preparation for Saturday’s crucial Premier League clash with Aston Villa.
Some supporters have called for Federico Chiesa to feature more prominently, but Slot’s team selection suggests he remains focused on managing fitness levels and rediscovering balance in his squad.
The Liverpool boss knows that results must improve quickly. Another setback could force the club’s leadership to reconsider their current position — even as they publicly insist that Slot retains their full backing.
