How Crystal Palace anticipate the Marc Guehi situation unfolding amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.

Crystal Palace sources reportedly believe that Liverpool are the favourites to sign Marc Guehi if he leaves in January — despite interest from multiple top clubs. BBC Sport previously reported that the defender was close to joining the Reds in the summer, and with his contract running down, speculation around his next move continues to grow.

Guehi is expected to attract strong attention as his deal approaches its expiry date, with the Daily Mail noting that Manchester United are also monitoring the situation. However, Sky Sports suggest that Palace feel Liverpool are the only club likely to push for a mid-season transfer, as other contenders may opt to wait until the summer when he could be available for free.

Considering how near he was to joining Liverpool earlier, a move to Anfield would not be surprising — particularly with uncertainty surrounding Ibrahima Konate’s contract. Should Konate decline an extension, Liverpool may look to secure a defender quickly, making Guehi an appealing option.

Manchester United would also benefit from bringing in a centre-back of his quality, potentially viewing him as a long-term replacement for Harry Maguire.
