Arsenal Injury Update Ahead of Spurs Clash — Odegaard Boost & Madueke Encouragement
Arsenal have received a major fitness lift before their North London Derby showdown with Tottenham, following positive news regarding Gabriel.
After Gabriel Jesus made his comeback, another £30m Arsenal star has now returned to full training and is expected to be available for Sunday’s Emirates Stadium derby.
However, Mikel Arteta still has eight injury concerns to manage going into the Premier League fixture, including two fresh setbacks from the international break.
Arsenal resume league action this weekend sitting four points clear at the top, despite the absence of several key players. With a demanding run of fixtures — including Spurs, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Everton — Arteta is hopeful his squad depth will be reinforced soon.
Thanks to sporting director Andrea Berta’s planning, the team has coped well so far, but Arteta would prefer to have a fuller squad for the upcoming schedule. Below are the latest updates on each injured player:
Martin Odegaard
There is growing optimism that Odegaard could return after six weeks out, with reports confirming he has rejoined team training.
He travelled with Norway during the international break but did not feature.
- Arteta’s stance: The manager remains hopeful that several players will return after the break, including Odegaard.
- Odegaard’s own words: His recovery is “moving forward,” though the last match “came a little too early.”
Expected return: Tottenham (H) – Sunday, November 23
Noni Madueke
Before the break, there were suggestions Madueke might feature against Sunderland.
He has now edged closer to a return and could be back for the derby after two months out.
However, it’s uncertain if Arteta will confirm his availability in today’s press conference.
Expected return: Tottenham (H) – Sunday, November 23
Gabriel Magalhães
Gabriel suffered an adductor injury with Brazil, raising fears he could be absent until January — though some sources believe the layoff may be shorter.
- Ancelotti (Brazil coach): Said the severity was unclear but expressed disappointment for the player.
Expected return: December 2025 / January 2026
Viktor Gyökeres
Despite a three-week recovery window, Gyökeres remains doubtful for the Spurs match.
Expected return: Bayern Munich (H) – Wednesday, November 26
Kai Havertz
A recent setback has delayed Havertz’s recovery.
- Nagelsmann: Confirmed a “minor relapse,” but expects Havertz to return before the end of the year.
Potential return: December
Gabriel Martinelli
Martinelli has been out for a shorter period than others and is considered a strong candidate to return this weekend.
Potential return: Tottenham (H) – Sunday, November 23
Riccardo Calafiori
Calafiori missed Italy’s two international matches due to a hip issue but returned early to Arsenal.
He is expected to be fit for Sunday.
Potential return: Tottenham (H) – Sunday, November 23
Gabriel Jesus
Jesus is approaching full fitness after months out, having been involved in full training for several weeks.
