Gerard MartĂn at the press conference
On playing as a centre-back:
âCentre-back is a role the coach wanted to test me in during pre-season, and itâs a position where I feel very comfortable. Honestly, I donât favour one role over the other â Iâm confident in both. Wherever the coach asks me to play, Iâll be ready.â
On the Champions League and aiming for the top eight:
âWeâre in a positive rhythm and want to keep progressing. In the Champions League, we canât afford to let more points slip. We need to win and stay near the top.â
On his importance within the squad:
âI feel valued in this team, and the coach shows that with the trust he places in me. Even though Iâm currently playing as a centre-back, I donât think of myself strictly as one or the other. Whether itâs full-back or centre-back, Iâll play wherever the coach believes Iâm needed.â
On being labeled a âworking-class football success storyâ:
âI did see something about that online, but Iâm not sure where it originated. I just see myself as a humble kid who works hard â nothing more.â
