We cannot be happy” – Arne Slot doesn’t hold back in assessment of shock Liverpool defeat

Arne Slot hasn’t held back with his criticism of Liverpool’s players following their shock 1-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

In the 72nd minute, Callum Hudson-Odoi scored to become the first player to breach Arne Slot’s Liverpool defense, while Nottingham Forest became the first team to secure points against them this season.

Liverpool dominated the match with 70% possession and 14 shots, but Forest only managed five attempts.

BBC pundit Chris Sutton suggested that the loss marks the end of Arne Slot’s initial period of success at Anfield, indicating that the Dutch manager now understands the challenges of leading Liverpool back to title contention.

Arne Slot offered a candid critique of his team’s performance after the match. The former Feyenoord manager expressed disappointment over their failure to create quality chances despite dominating possession. He noted that the game was disjointed and criticized his team for losing possession too frequently in critical areas.

“The result is the most frustrating aspect, and we can’t be satisfied with how the game unfolded. It was a stop-start match, and we barely created any opportunities,” Slot said. “We need to look at our own shortcomings and improve. We lost the ball too often in crucial areas, which was unacceptable. Our decision-making and execution were lacking. Although we defended relatively well, the introduction of fast players from the opposition made things challenging. In the end, it was a well-taken goal.”
