Man City linked with move for sensational €100m player as 115 charges hearing begins

Manchester City’s dominance of English football shows no sign of stopping any time soon, with the Premier League champions reportedly keen to sign one of the brightest talents in Europe.

Manchester City are leading the Premier League, having won all four of their matches in the 2024/25 season. Pep Guardiola’s team is favored to secure a record-extending fifth consecutive league title.

City’s recent success has been marred by significant controversy. The club’s 115 Premier League rule breach charges are being heard this week after a protracted investigation.

The charges, mostly concerning a nine-year period from 2009 to 2018, are denied by City, who assert they have “irrefutable evidence” in their defense.

The hearing, overseen by an independent commission, is expected to last about two months, with a final verdict and any potential appeals anticipated by next summer.

Despite the ongoing legal uncertainties, City continues to operate normally both on and off the field. The club is reportedly planning to maintain their Premier League dominance, including a potential bid for Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala next summer.

German media outlet T-online, via Sport Witness, reports that City remains keen on signing Musiala after a failed attempt this summer. Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has mentioned that negotiations with Musiala have been “difficult,” possibly paving the way for his departure from Bayern. The 21-year-old, whose contract expires in 2026, may be available for transfer next summer, presenting Bayern with an opportunity to secure a significant fee if Musiala chooses to leave.

Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and might need to offer €100 million (£84 million) to secure the deal.

Manchester City could face competition from Arsenal, Barcelona, and Real Madrid for Wirtz’s signature.

Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, expressed hope that Musiala would commit to a long-term future with the club. Eberl mentioned to Sport1, “It’s challenging but not impossible, as Jamal understands the value of being at Bayern Munich. He has developed here and we are pushing for intensified talks. We are highly ambitious, and he knows our aim is to win titles.”

According to T-online, Bayern might consider selling Musiala for a similar fee if they can successfully acquire Wirtz.
