Liverpool dealt devastating blow to hopes of signing dream player

Liverpool has been dealt a blow to their hopes of signing Anthony Gordon after it has been rumoured that he is close to agreeing on a new contract.

Arne Slot started strongly as Liverpool’s new manager, achieving three consecutive wins, including a dominant 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford. However, the team faced a setback with a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield, despite controlling the game.

Liverpool created numerous chances but failed to convert them, lacking the usual composure in front of goal. While not a critical concern, the team has struggled to find consistent threat on the left flank, with Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez showing promise but not matching Mohamed Salah’s reliability on the right.

Liverpool’s attempts to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle have faced obstacles, as the club made multiple approaches but couldn’t secure his transfer.

If securing a deal for the 23-year-old was challenging in the summer, it’s likely to become even more difficult, as reports from the Mail via the Express suggest he is about to receive a new contract. This new deal could make him the highest earner at St. James’ Park, with an annual salary of around £9 million.

With Federico Chiesa joining Anfield at a reasonable price over the summer, Liverpool might reconsider pursuing Gordon based on his performance moving forward.
