Joan Laporta ignores signing Kimmich, Laporta changed the plan because of this surprise player

Joshua Kimmich is a key target for Hansi Flick as he aims to enhance Barcelona’s squad for the next season. This was one of Flick’s initial requests upon joining the club. However, Bayern Munich is unwilling to negotiate for one of their top players and has firmly rejected the idea.

Reports suggest that Kimmich is ready to embark on a new chapter, considering his first move outside the German league. According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, he is demanding a substantial salary and high commissions as a free agent.

Barcelona officials are hesitant to make such a significant investment, especially with competition from major clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City, all vying for his signature. As a result, Barcelona is starting to realize that securing Kimmich will be challenging and is exploring other options to strengthen their midfield.

One option for Barcelona is Martín Zubimendi, who has been a long-time target for Xavi Hernández. Despite receiving multiple offers to leave Real Sociedad last summer, he chose to stay. The Spanish international is expected to be a standout in the upcoming transfer market, with a release clause of 60 million euros.

Joan Laporta sees Kimmich as an excellent potential signing but considers Zubimendi an equally appealing alternative. At 25, Zubimendi is younger and has the advantage of being well-acquainted with La Liga. He is currently viewed as the top candidate to succeed Sergio Busquets in the Barcelona lineup.
