England international has told his friends he would love to join Liverpool

Liverpool’s summer transfer window was underwhelming with the Premier League giants failing to sign some of their targets.

Their widely reported attempts to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi were unsuccessful, and Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon couldn’t secure his desired transfer to the Merseyside club.

However, the Reds have received a significant boost as one of the top players in his position is interested in joining them.

According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has expressed to friends his desire to play for Liverpool.

The centre-back has been linked with a departure from Selhurst Park and nearly joined Newcastle this summer. After having four bids rejected, Newcastle abandoned their pursuit of the former Chelsea player.

The report indicates that Guehi is eager to leave Palace and wants to move to a club bigger than Newcastle.

Liverpool is reportedly interested in signing the England international, who excelled for the Three Lions at Euro 2024. His impressive performances have caught the attention of top clubs, and it seems inevitable he will secure a significant transfer soon.

To acquire Guehi, Liverpool would need to pay a substantial fee; Crystal Palace wanted £75 million this summer, which deterred Newcastle due to the price.

It remains uncertain if Liverpool can meet that cost next year, likely mirroring the fee they paid for Virgil Van Dijk. With the Dutch centre-back entering the final year of his contract, a new defender is essential, and Guehi could be an ideal replacement.

Liverpool’s chances of signing him are bolstered by Guehi’s desire to join Anfield.
