Ancelotti decides: Real Madrid duo may leave after Camavinga returns from injury

The Italian coach has been considering the tactical system for upcoming tough matches and is open to reverting to the 4-4-2 formation he used last season. Ancelotti aims for success with Real Madrid during a long season that could see the team compete in over seven tournaments, potentially playing around 70 matches.

Camavinga’s return from injury could lead to changes in the lineup, particularly affecting Tchouameni and Rodrygo. Tchouameni may feel pressure due to Camavinga’s strong performances, while Rodrygo’s playing time could be impacted if Ancelotti switches to the 4-4-2 setup, which requires four midfielders and two forwards.

Reports from AS indicate that Kylian Mbappé’s three-week injury opens up playing time for Rodrygo, who would otherwise have been at risk of missing out in a formation typically featuring Vinicius and Mbappé. No final decisions have been made, but Ancelotti has acknowledged that the return to a 4-4-2 formation is still a possibility. Additionally, Camavinga’s impressive performances last season put extra pressure on Tchouameni, despite his importance in Ancelotti’s plans.

Camavinga is more adept at covering larger areas of the pitch, while Tchouameni tends to favor a more defined role. If Valverde continues to play as a pivot or alongside Camavinga, Tchouameni may have to shift to center defense as an option or risk being benched.

Ancelotti will need to rotate players frequently this season to prevent injuries like those sustained by Brahim and Mbappé. With matches becoming more intense, players will require rest periods.

Although they want to play consistently, players are starting to understand the importance of managing their desire for minutes, as overexertion could ultimately reduce their chances of participation due to injuries.
