After the Wolves vs. Liverpool match that took place yesterday, Liverpool has made a very sad announcement this morning with the news that three vital players for Liverpool have sustained injuries.

Liverpool’s young prospect, Calum Scanlon, is set to miss around three months due to injury and has returned to his parent club from his loan spell at Millwall.

James Pearce from The Athletic reports that the 19-year-old left-back is dealing with a stress fracture in his back, which will keep him out for at least three months. Liverpool decided to recall Scanlon to closely monitor his condition and support his recovery.

This injury is a major setback for Scanlon, who had joined Millwall on loan in the summer to gain important first-team experience. His time at the Championship club has been hampered by this unfortunate situation.

Prior to the injury, Scanlon had limited opportunities in the 2024/25 season, having only played a brief 11 minutes in Millwall’s 1-0 loss to Luton Town on September 14.

For a young player like Scanlon, regular playing time is essential for his growth. His loan to Millwall was meant to help him adjust to senior football and gain competitive experience, but now he faces a rehabilitation period instead.

Despite this setback, Scanlon is likely eager to recover quickly and return to London, determined to advance his career and make an impact at Liverpool.

Regarding his future at Liverpool, it’s still early to draw any conclusions. However, the young defender will likely be eyeing a potential left-back position at the club. With Andy Robertson’s contract expiring in 2026, there may be opportunities for Scanlon to assert himself in the coming years.

Since joining Liverpool’s youth academy in 2020, he has attracted the attention of manager Jurgen Klopp. Last season, he trained extensively with the first team as Klopp acknowledged his potential.

Scanlon made his Liverpool debut during their UEFA Europa League campaign in October, contributing to a 5-1 win over Toulouse. This was one of only two appearances for the club so far, but the young full-back hopes for many more in the future.

Although this injury has disrupted his momentum, Scanlon is focused on his recovery and further developing his skills with the aim of establishing himself at Liverpool in the years ahead.
