Good news for Liverpool as Real Madrid open to offers for midfielder Arne Slot wants

Liverpool has received a significant boost in their search for a new midfielder.

Although they had a deal in place to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad this summer, the Spaniard chose to remain with his childhood club instead of moving to the Premier League. While Liverpool may pursue him again in the January transfer window—especially with Manchester City also interested in a replacement for Rodri—there’s no certainty that Zubimendi will change his mind about joining Anfield.

As a result, manager Arne Slot is exploring other options, with one of his top targets being Real Madrid and France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

Despite starting all seven of Real Madrid’s La Liga matches this season, Tchouameni’s performance has not yet matched the expectations set when he transferred from Monaco in 2022.

For that reason, Carlo Ancelotti is willing to sell the midfielder this summer if a suitable offer comes in.

Liverpool has been informed of the Frenchman’s asking price, which is reportedly £66 million (€80 million), making them the club most interested in pursuing a deal.

While Ryan Gravenberch is having an excellent season in Slot’s midfield, the Dutchman recognizes the need for at least one more high-profile signing to ensure a smooth transition from Jurgen Klopp.

Tchouameni remains an appealing target. Although he hasn’t quite met expectations at Santiago Bernabeu, at just 24 years old, he still has significant potential, and few clubs develop players as effectively as Liverpool.
