A major announcement was made just a few hours ago, revealing that Barça is closely monitoring a player who might boost their attack. While no transfer has been finalized yet, Joan Laporta aims to offload Ferran Torres, Raphinha Dias, and Vitor Roque—who joined in January but has not lived up to expectations.
All of them are on the transfer list, and if a solid offer comes in, Camp Nou will be open to letting them go. This would generate substantial revenue, though it would also necessitate bringing in new talent to fill the attacking void left behind.
One player who has caught Deco’s attention is Victor Gyokeres, who had an impressive debut season in Portugal.
He joined Sporting de Portugal after a standout performance in the Championship, and few expected him to adapt so swiftly and make such a remarkable impact. He quickly became the key offensive player for the Lisbon team and their star performer, as reflected in his impressive tally of 43 goals and 15 assists across all competitions. These outstanding numbers establish him as one of the top strikers currently.
He was undeniably crucial in leading them to another Primeira Liga title at the José Alvalade Stadium, attracting interest from several top clubs. Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Atlético de Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, and Juventus have all shown interest in the Swedish international, and now Barça must also be considered in the mix.
Laporta and Deco are not dismissing the possibility of adding more attacking options for Hans-Dieter Flick, and Gyokeres is especially favored due to the highly favorable reports from scouts.
However, Barça is aware that acquiring the former Coventry City, Swansea City, Brighton & Hove Albion, and St. Pauli player will not come cheap, with a price tag expected to exceed 65 million euros.
It’s a substantial investment, especially considering that Gyokeres would likely be a replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Nonetheless, a last-minute surprise remains a possibility.
