Liverpool plan priority transfer before ÂŁ50-60m move for âoutstandingâ star as Zubimendi stance clear
Liverpool is reportedly preparing to make several significant acquisitions in the winter transfer window. According to Football Insider, the club is focusing on acquiring a holding midfielder in January after missing out on Martin Zubimendi over the summer, a situation the Spanish player reportedly does not regret.
Itâs uncertain if Arne Slotâs team will attempt to pursue Zubimendi again soon. Additionally, Liverpool is interested in signing Crystal Palaceâs Eberechi Eze in January.
If the report from Pete OâRourke is accurate, Liverpool plans to pursue multiple midfield signings rather than just one. Football Insider notes that Crystal Palaceâs Eberechi Eze is generating significant interest from the club ahead of January.
The talented midfielder, described as “outstanding” by chairman Steve Parish, is expected to come at a hefty price, with offers in the ÂŁ50-60 million range likely needed to convince the Eagles to let him go.
Eze would provide competition for Dominik Szoboszlai, especially given some criticism of Szoboszlaiâs contributions in the final third. So far in the 2024/25 season, both players have similar stats, with Eze recording three goals and an assist. However, this is a decline compared to last season, when he scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 27 Premier League matches.
Statistically, Eze ranks in the 90th percentile for non-penalty expected goals, whereas Szoboszlai falls in the 50th percentile. If Liverpool seeks a dynamic attacking midfielder to push Szoboszlai, Eze would be an excellent option.
