Neither Arnold nor Frimpong: his contract expires in 2025, and Florentino already sees him as a replacement for Carvajal

Doubts regarding Dani Carvajal’s injury, which will keep him off the pitch for the entirety of the 2024-25 season, are sparking significant discussions at Real Madrid. The club lacks a clear replacement for him, and executives led by Florentino Pérez must identify the right player to ensure the defense maintains its quality, as current suggestions do not align with the board’s plans.

Carvajal is sidelined due to a serious injury that includes a tear in his anterior cruciate ligament, a tear in his external collateral ligament, and a hamstring tendon tear in his right leg. This situation has fueled speculation about potential signings, even though Carlo Ancelotti has reiterated that the transfer market is closed and options are limited. He emphasized the need to manage the squad effectively, particularly in light of the absence of their only available full-back, Lucas Vázquez.

Florentino Pérez has expressed that he plans to replace Dani Carvajal with Lucas Vázquez. This presents Vázquez with a prime opportunity to secure a regular spot at Real Madrid, and if he performs well, he may also earn a contract renewal. The club president is backing this decision, which could affect the pursuits of Jeremie Frimpong and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Pérez and the club are keen to ensure Vázquez feels supported, as the team’s success this season will heavily rely on his contributions.
