**Man Utd ‘Negotiating’ to Replace Ten Hag with Barcelona Great, Who ‘Requests’ One January Signing**

Manchester United is reportedly in discussions with Barcelona legend Xavi about potentially replacing current manager Erik ten Hag. After a disappointing 0-0 draw against Aston Villa, United enters the international break winless in their last five matches across all competitions.
The club has only secured three victories this season, resulting in their lowest points total after seven league games since the 1989-90 season, with just eight points. Ten Hag is under intense pressure, although he believes he still has the backing of the club’s hierarchy, who are scheduled to meet on Tuesday.
Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is currently the frontrunner for the role, alongside other candidates such as Eddie Howe, Thomas Frank, Gareth Southgate, and Max Allegri. Recent reports from Spain indicate that Xavi’s name has gained momentum, and negotiations with the former Barcelona manager are underway.
Xavi is reportedly keen on moving to the Premier League and joining a club with such a rich history. If appointed, he already has a target for the January transfer window: Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez. Xavi considers Lopez crucial for United and is prepared to advocate for a significant investment to secure his signing, potentially exceeding €40 million (£33.5 million).
Former United striker Andy Cole commented on Ten Hag’s situation, suggesting that the manager shouldn’t shoulder all the blame for the club’s struggles this season. Cole emphasized, “The players are the ones that have to go out there and win football matches,” and noted that Ten Hag’s previous successes in winning two cups in his first two seasons shouldn’t be overlooked.
Cole expressed concern over the impact of frequent managerial changes, stating, “Winning two cups in two seasons isn’t easy to do.” He highlighted that successful managers often need time to establish themselves, referencing Sir Alex Ferguson’s early challenges at the club.
With uncertainty surrounding Ten Hag’s future, all eyes are now on whether United will make a managerial change during the upcoming international break.
