Manchester City move to sign European goal machine to compensate for Haaland’s ‘possible’ departure to Barcelona

Manchester City is anticipated to undergo significant changes next summer, particularly with director of football Txiki Begiristain set to depart at the end of the season. Additionally, the club faces the potential fallout from the 115 Premier League charges regarding financial misconduct.

Pep Guardiola has yet to finalize a contract extension, and several key players are also due to be out of contract in 2025. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano cautions against speculating about Barcelona’s plans for the 2025 transfer market, though Erling Haaland remains a top target for the Catalan club.

Guardiola’s potential exit could lead to more player departures, and reports from Football365 suggest that City already has a replacement in mind for Haaland. Viktor Gyokeres, who has scored 54 goals in 60 appearances since joining Sporting Lisbon last summer, is being closely monitored by City.

However, if Haaland remains in Manchester, the scenario could shift, as Barcelona is also considering Gyokeres to strengthen their attack.
