An official response has been provided by Wataru Endo on the rumors that he is leaving Liverpool.

Japan’s captain Wataru Endo has been reported recently that he could leave Liverpool in the summer after starting in only one match under Arne Slot since the start of the season.

His first start for Liverpool was in the 5-1 Carabao Cup round of 16 match against West Ham, where he played 82 minutes before being substituted for Tyler Morton. Currently, the player is not included in Arne Slot’s regular starting lineup, unlike last season under Jurgen Klopp, when Endo was a key midfield player since joining the club.

Recently, Wataru Endo addressed rumors about leaving Liverpool for more playing time, stating that the club needs squad depth due to a busy schedule and that it’s too early to judge his role under the new manager. He mentioned he is unaware of media reports about a potential transfer and plans to continue his career with Liverpool for now.

Endo believes he will have plenty of opportunities to demonstrate his skills throughout the long season, as Arne Slot will need to rotate players for various matches. He noted that many players have not played much yet, but they are all aware that circumstances can change weekly, so it’s important to keep pushing towards their goals.

Meanwhile, Endo has been performing well for Japan during the international break, starting in their 2-0 victory against Saudi Arabia in the World Cup qualifiers. As captain, he has been pivotal in Japan’s successful start, with three wins in three matches, placing them first in their group with nine points.

Japan’s next challenge is a home match against Australia on Tuesday, after which Endo will return to Merseyside to join the Liverpool squad ahead of their match against Chelsea on October 20.
