Barcelona officials, led by Joan Laporta, are looking to re-sign a former star player during the winter transfer window in January 2025 to enhance the team’s performance.
This comes as Barcelona prepares to face Sevilla next Sunday in the tenth round of La Liga, where they currently lead with 24 points, three points ahead of rivals Real Madrid in second place.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Sport,” Barcelona aims to acquire Spanish defender Oscar Mingueza, currently with Celta Vigo, in the upcoming transfer window. The club is considering negotiations to bring back the 25-year-old defender, expected to cost around 10 million euros.
The report also mentions that German coach Hans Flick supports this move, especially after Ronald Araujo’s injury and the inexperience among the backup defenders. Mingueza has caught the attention of Barcelona officials due to his impressive development at Celta Vigo, where he has emerged as one of La Liga’s top players in his position.
