Real Madrid player apologizes to Ancelotti after the defeat: It was my fault

Real Madrid suffered a heavy defeat to Barcelona, prompting a thorough review in their upcoming training sessions. The loss at Santiago Bernabéu left Carlo Ancelotti’s squad in a difficult position, as they struggled to address issues that emerged during a match that was evenly contested in the first half but unraveled due to frequent defensive mistakes.

According to the Spanish outlet “Defensa Central,” Ferland Mendy was primarily responsible for Barcelona’s first goal. The French defender acknowledged his mistake to his teammates, saying, “It’s my fault,” and expressed his regret over the error.

Mendy’s failure to maintain the offside line contributed to the goal, as he did not effectively press the Barcelona forward, leading to disarray in the defense and allowing a crucial goal that put Real Madrid in a difficult spot.

This isn’t the first time defensive blunders have cost Real Madrid, though they’ve often managed to recover in previous matches, aided by inspired performances from their attackers. However, against Hansi Flick’s well-organized side, they were unable to do so.

With crucial matches ahead that will significantly impact their season and determine their chances for advancing to the last 16 against teams like Liverpool and Milan, the focus now shifts to correcting these mistakes.
