Liverpool have allegedly secured an agreement with Real Sociedad for the transfer of Martin Zubimendi.
According to a claim from Pedro Almeida on X (formerly Twitter), the Merseysiders are believed to have agreed to the La Liga club’s £51.7 million release clause.
This would be Arne Slot’s first senior signing at Anfield since his move from Feyenoord in the summer, where he succeeded the long-serving Jurgen Klopp as manager.
With all due respect to Almeida, we advise fans not to get too excited just yet.
It’s possible that we’ve reached a preliminary agreement with Sociedad regarding a potential fee for Zubimendi.
However, reliable sources, including The Times’ Paul Joyce, have indicated that this deal is far from finalized.
Liverpool’s interest is evident, and Arne Slot wants Zubimendi at Anfield for the 2024/25 season. Yet, Real Sociedad’s efforts suggest there’s still significant work needed to complete this transfer.
