Hansi Flick has informed several Barcelona players that they are not in his future plans and must seek new opportunities. The German coach aims to thoroughly overhaul the Catalan team before the new season begins to fulfill the expectations of Barcelona fans and secure titles.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, Hansi Flick will not show leniency toward players he deems not up to standard for the team. A significant number of departures have been planned, including Oriol Romeu, Clement Lenglet, Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, and Vitor Roque.
The newspaper also noted that defender Inigo Martinez was among the first to be let go by Flick. While Xavi Hernandez valued Martinez’s experience, Flick has decided there is no longer room for him in the squad. Despite Ronald Araujo’s serious injury, which will keep him out until December, Flick has not reconsidered Martinez’s position.
The newspaper also reported that Barcelona aims to offload these players to fund new acquisitions or facilitate exchange deals to acquire the players Hansi Flick desires. Vitor Roque is in high demand in the Saudi League, while Ferran Torres is being pursued by Unai Emery at Aston Villa, and Sevilla is interested in signing Ansu Fati this summer.
The newspaper concluded that the challenge is that most of these players do not want to leave, with the exception of Oriol Romeu, who is set to join Girona. The rest prefer to remain at Barcelona for various understandable reasons.
