£50m will see Liverpool part with exciting attacker in order to fund transfer for Newcastle man

With only a couple of weeks left of the current transfer window, it appears as though Liverpool and Newcastle still have business that they’d like to conclude.

Both Liverpool and Newcastle have been relatively inactive this summer, but there is still an opportunity to finalize some transfers.

Liverpool aims to use the proceeds from selling Diaz to finance a move for Gordon. With the 2024/25 season commencing this weekend, it is probable that both Arne Slot and Eddie Howe will prefer minimal changes to their squads as the first match of the season begins.

Liverpool will play their opening game against newly promoted Ipswich Town at Portman Road, while Newcastle will face another newly promoted team, Southampton, at home.

These matches may come too soon for some transfers to be completed. However, according to Fichajes, Liverpool is expected to accept an offer around £50 million to sell their skillful Colombian forward, Luis Diaz.

Although Diaz has undeniable talent, he has never quite settled at Anfield and tends to be either outstanding or frustratingly inconsistent. This unpredictability may be why Liverpool has decided he could be deemed surplus to their needs.
