Barcelona is vigorously working to finalize the two most crucial deals of the season, focusing on securing contracts with Nico Williams and Dani Olmo. The combined cost for both players could reach up to €120 million, prompting the Catalan club to devise a plan to raise funds. To facilitate these acquisitions, Joan Laporta has decided to part ways with some of Barcelona’s current players.
Barcelona is diligently working to finalize the two most crucial deals of the season, with a strategy in place to raise funds for signing Nico Williams and Dani Olmo, potentially costing up to €120 million. This financial commitment requires the club to complete several sales.
According to the Catalan newspaper Sport, Joan Laporta’s plan is straightforward: for the arrivals of Williams and Olmo, two current players must be sold. The names of those likely to be excluded have been identified, and Barcelona now needs to find suitable teams to finalize these departures.
The newspaper reported that the first player expected to leave Barcelona is Vitor Roque. He currently has no place in the team, and Saudi League clubs are interested in him. His value was previously set at €30 million, but Barcelona aims to sell him for over €40 million. Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia is monitoring his situation while Roque considers his options.
Additionally, Brazilian winger Rafinha, one of Barcelona’s standout players this season, is also likely to depart. He is attracting interest from Premier League clubs as well as Saudi Arabian teams. Barcelona is aiming to secure more than €60 million for Rafinha’s transfer.
The strategy is clear: Barcelona aims to raise around €100 million through the sales of Vitor Roque and Rafinha. This revenue would significantly offset the expenditure on Nico Williams and Dani Olmo.
If successful, these sales would cover a substantial portion of the signings for Williams and Olmo. Laporta expects this to align with financial fair play regulations, which are still pending a return to the 1:1 rule.
The situation will be clarified once Nico Williams makes his decision, while Dani Olmo is still waiting for his contract details to be finalized before officially joining FC Barcelona.
