Reported interest in Luis Diaz ‘is real’ as new club prepares to ‘make an offer’ – Sierra

It’s been a calm summer regarding new arrivals, but as the transfer window closes, activity is picking up, particularly concerning departures—potentially including Luis Díaz.

According to Pipe Sierra on X, Barcelona’s interest in Luis Díaz is genuine. They renewed their interest last week and are planning to make an offer, though they are seeking a “financial engineering” approach to do so.

Liverpool has already discussed renewing his contract, which is set to expire in 2027, but nothing concrete has emerged yet.

With other reports suggesting Manchester City is interested in our winger, it would be a preferable outcome for our fans if we were to lose our player during this window.

The Colombian scored twice in our final pre-season friendly and seems poised to play a crucial role in the first team this season, making it odd to consider selling him.

However, our left wing is well-covered with Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, and Darwin Nunez already at Anfield, so Arne Slot might believe we have sufficient options to manage that position effectively.

Selling our No.7 would generate funds and offer a chance to bring in a direct replacement or add more cover to Mo Salah’s side, where he is the only natural option.

It’s uncertain whether Barcelona can afford the amount needed for the 27-year-old, but they might test our resolve. As the window progresses, finding a replacement or new arrival at a competitive price becomes increasingly challenging.
