“I still expect Liverpool” – Fabrizio Romano issues encouraging transfer update

Liverpool fans have been let down by their transfer activity this summer.

The Reds are the only team among Europe’s top five leagues that hasn’t made a signing during this transfer window.

They were rumored to be interested in Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon and Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.

However, Zubimendi turned down a move to Liverpool, choosing to remain with his boyhood club, which was an unexpected decision for the Reds.

Under Arne Slot, Liverpool kicked off their Premier League season with a solid 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town, thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah.

Currently, Slot’s team has not progressed in acquiring any new players, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared some positive news regarding their transfer prospects.

“I believe the situation at Liverpool regarding transfers is still open. I wouldn’t completely rule out the possibility of Liverpool making moves in the market. They consistently state, both publicly and privately, that they will only invest in players if they are absolutely convinced,” the journalist mentioned on the Here We Go podcast.

“Otherwise, they feel they have a very strong squad with talented players for the future.”

Last season’s performance highlighted the need for a new, dependable center-back to partner with Virgil Van Dijk in defense.

The Liverpool manager believes the team also requires a new number 6, which is why he pursued a move for Zubimendi.

There are areas in the squad that need strengthening this summer, and the introduction of new players is necessary. With only 11 days remaining in the transfer window, they must act swiftly to secure new signings.
