Chelsea have already identified their Raheem Sterling replacement and need him to go ASAP to secure deal

Chelsea have reportedly identified a replacement for Raheem Sterling.

On Sunday afternoon, Raheem Sterling was excluded from Chelsea’s squad for their Premier League match against Manchester City. City won the game 2-0 with goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic.

Following this, Sterling’s representatives issued a statement seeking clarity on his future. The statement explained that Sterling, who is under contract with Chelsea for the next three years, had returned to England two weeks early for individual training and had a successful pre-season with the new coach, with whom he has built a strong working relationship.

Sterling remains committed to Chelsea and its fans and was expected to participate in the weekend’s match based on his inclusion in pre-match materials. The representatives noted that they have had positive communication with Chelsea regarding Sterling’s future and are looking for clarity on the situation, while continuing to support his positive start to the new season.

Reports suggest that Chelsea is already exploring replacements for Sterling. According to Italian news source Di Marzio, the club is interested in Juventus winger Federico Chiesa but would need to sell Sterling first to pursue the Italian player.

When questioned about his choice to leave Raheem Sterling out of the squad, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca simply stated, “It’s just a technical decision, nothing more to say. Managers are paid to make decisions, and sometimes players may not agree with them.”

Chelsea will be back in action on Thursday, facing Swiss team Servette FC in a qualifier for the UEFA Europa Conference League.
