I actually had problems at Manchester United, but it’s not everything you heard was true. This was actually what happened. They gave me back my number but (No.11) but I felt disappointed when they told me this…”-Formal Manchester United attacker Mason Greenwood narrated what really happened and why he left Manchester United for good after huge accusation that almost ruined his career. “I was getting ready to play for Manchester United this season but you can’t believe what they told me

Mason Greenwood, a promising 22-year-old forward, recently transitioned from Manchester United to Marseille. In his Ligue 1 debut for the French club, now managed by former Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi, Greenwood made an immediate impact by scoring twice.

Greenwood’s international career, however, has faced complications. His only appearance for England’s senior team was in September 2020 during a Nations League match against Iceland. After being substituted late in the game, Greenwood, alongside teammate Phil Foden, was sent home for breaching Covid-19 protocols, initiating a series of challenges that affected his international prospects.

Since then, Greenwood has not been recalled to the England squad. His situation worsened with a legal issue in January 2022, when he was arrested on charges including attempted rape, controlling behavior, and assault. Although the charges were dropped in February 2023, the incident negatively impacted his international career and public perception.

Despite these setbacks, Greenwood might still have an international future due to his Jamaican heritage. FIFA rules allow players with fewer than four competitive appearances for a national team before turning 21 to switch their allegiance. This opens the possibility for Greenwood to represent Jamaica.

Adding to this potential, Jamaica recently appointed Steve McClaren, former Manchester United assistant coach, as their national team manager. McClaren hinted at the possibility of recruiting Greenwood, expressing a desire to discuss potential commitments with eligible players. This suggests McClaren is actively seeking to strengthen Jamaica’s team.

According to reports from *The Sun*, Greenwood is set to switch his international allegiance to Jamaica, with the Jamaican Football Federation already requesting approval from the English Football Association.

Jamaica aims to return to the World Cup after their last appearance in 1998. The expansion to 48 teams for the 2026 World Cup, hosted by the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, presents a new opportunity. McClaren, under his two-year contract, is expected to capitalize on this expanded format to secure a World Cup spot for Jamaica.

For Greenwood, this potential switch signifies more than a change in national teams. It represents a fresh start, an opportunity to revive his international career, and a chance to demonstrate his talent on a global stage, potentially leading to a new chapter of redemption and success.
