Liverpool are reportedly in advanced talks with RB Salzburg to allow Stefan Bajcetic to leave on loan.
The 19-year-old midfielder is unlikely to secure the playing time he desires this season, as Arne Slot prefers Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch as his main midfield trio.
Although highly regarded by the Dutch manager and seen as a future key defensive midfielder, it’s understandable that Liverpool’s new coach might prefer Bajcetic to continue his development elsewhere this season.
According to a recent report by prominent transfer expert and CaughtOffside columnist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool is working on a deal that would allow Bajcetic to reunite with Pep Lijnders, who has moved from being the club’s assistant manager to head coach at RB Salzburg.
Liverpool’s number 43, Bajcetic, faces interest from multiple clubs, including several in La Liga. However, with Pep Lijnders’ connections and influence likely to play a key role, fans anticipate that Bajcetic will opt for a move to the Red Bull Arena.
Since his promotion to Liverpool’s first team two years ago, the Spanish midfielder has played in 22 matches across all competitions. His sole goal came against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Boxing Day of the 2022-23 season. He still has three years remaining on his contract.
