Arsenal fans outraged after learning detail about Neto deal which changes everything

Arsenal fans have been left unimpressed with the club due to a key detail in their deal with Bournemouth for the loan signing of goalkeeper Neto.

The Gunners were compelled to enter the transfer market after Aaron Ramsdale’s departure to Southampton, leading to the acquisition of Brazilian goalkeeper Neto.

In his pre-match press conference before Arsenal’s game against Brighton on Saturday, Mikel Arteta expressed gratitude towards the club’s former first-choice goalkeeper.

“First and foremost, I want to thank him for everything he’s done for the club, the team, and for me. When he arrived, he brought immense joy, charisma, and energy, and he performed exceptionally well during that time,” Arteta said.

“However, circumstances changed. He made it clear that he was happiest when he was playing regularly. We tried to accommodate that wish, and he appeared very enthusiastic and content recently. He’s moving to a great club with an excellent coach, and he looks genuinely excited, so we’re all pleased for him.”

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal is expected to finalize Neto’s loan signing, with the player undergoing a medical with the club on Friday morning.

Although acquiring Neto on loan as a replacement for Ramsdale might appear to be a smart move for Arsenal, fans have noticed a crucial detail in the deal that could alter their perspective.

Because Neto played in the Carabao Cup for Bournemouth, he will not be able to serve as a backup to David Raya in Arsenal’s league cup matches.

This situation has led to frustration among Arsenal fans on social media.

One fan remarked, “Oh great, our deadline day signing can’t play for us until after Christmas.”

Another fan humorously noted, “That’s the only games he was gonna get lol.”

A third questioned the rationale behind signing Neto: “So what’s the point in bringing him in?”

Another fan responded, “We’ve historically not taken the Carabao Cup seriously, so having Neto play a game or two before we exit isn’t a big deal.”

One fan expressed their frustration: “I didn’t realize this yesterday. What’s the point? So Raya and Setford will handle the Carabao Cup? What’s Neto’s role? Is he just waiting for Raya to get injured or the FA Cup in January?”
