Spanish media reports have revealed Barcelona’s official bid to acquire a key player from Bayer Leverkusen as the summer transfer window approaches its end. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is focused on securing a new central defender in the final stages of the transfer market.
This move comes in response to injuries to Andreas Christensen, who is expected to be sidelined for two months, along with Ronald Araujo’s injury and the potential departure of Eric Garcia.
The report states that Barcelona has made an official offer of €20 million for Jonathan Tah, the 28-year-old star from Bayer Leverkusen.
The Spanish newspaper reported that Barcelona is not prepared to increase its offer for Jonathan Tah due to his contract with Bayer Leverkusen, which runs until June 2025. It was also noted that Barcelona is aware of Tah’s strong interest in joining the club and working under Hans Flick, with whom he previously trained in the German national team.
The Spanish newspaper also mentioned that Jonathan Tah has attracted interest from Bayern Munich, which made an offer of €20 million plus €5 million in variables. However, Bayer Leverkusen rejected this proposal. Barcelona is hopeful that their offer will be accepted, as they believe Leverkusen would prefer not to strengthen a direct competitor like Bayern Munich.
