Surprise: Flick rejected Bernardo Silva to sign this player

Today, reports revealed why Barcelona has officially withdrawn from pursuing the signing of Bernardo Silva, Manchester City’s first-team player, during this summer transfer window. Initially, Bernardo was a key target for strengthening Barcelona’s squad, but the situation has shifted, making his move to the Catalan club difficult.

According to the Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona had been interested in Bernardo Silva for two seasons. However, the European Cup has highlighted another player who is now seen as more crucial for Barcelona coach Hans Flick—Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

The newspaper also reported that Flick urged Laporta to disregard the contract with Bernardo Silva and focus on securing Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams. However, Laporta ultimately couldn’t finalize the deal because of concerns about Barcelona’s financial difficulties and their ability to register the player. The newspaper concluded that the summer transfer window for Barcelona ended without meeting the German coach’s needs, which could leave him struggling as the season progresses with the current squad.
