Real Madrid are plotting a move for not just one, but two big-name players in 2025 as they continue to build one of the most feared teams in football.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly making a strong effort to sign one of the world’s top defensive midfielders. According to Football Transfers, Perez has instructed his recruitment team to do everything possible to secure Manchester City’s Rodri next summer. The 28-year-old, who has three years left on his current contract, is reportedly interested in returning to Spain, making the prospect a serious consideration.
Meanwhile, Manchester City is prepared to offer Rodri one of the highest salaries at the club to retain him, given his crucial role in Pep Guardiola’s team.
In addition to Rodri, Real Madrid is also interested in Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, aiming to bring him to the Bernabeu in 2025. Wirtz, who was pivotal in Leverkusen’s unbeaten Bundesliga campaign and named Player of the Season after scoring 11 goals and providing 12 assists, is also a target for Bayern Munich. Real Madrid is reportedly keen on signing Wirtz next summer if the opportunity arises, with Relevo suggesting that the club is well-positioned to make a move. Wirtz is seen as a valuable addition to strengthen Madrid’s already impressive midfield.
This summer, Kylian Mbappe was Florentino Perez’s marquee signing. During his transfer presentation at the Bernabeu, Mbappe expressed his gratitude, stating, “I want to thank the president [Florentino Pérez] first. He believed in me from the very beginning. Many things happened, but I want to say thank you. I appreciate everyone who worked to bring me here. I know it was difficult, but now I’m here as a Real Madrid player.
Since I was a child, my dream was to play here. Being at Real Madrid means a lot to me. Now, I aim to reach the level of this club, the best in the world. I promise to give everything for this club and its badge.”
