Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal has named the Premier League star he would most like to one day play alongside.
Yamal, 17, had a remarkable Euro 2024 tournament this summer, playing a key role in Spain’s triumph in Germany. Currently developing his skills with his childhood team, Barcelona, this promising young player has a bright future ahead.
Recently, when asked by Spanish radio station Radioestadio Noche (via City_Chief) which player he would love to play alongside, Yamal named Kevin De Bruyne. This choice has intrigued Manchester City fans, who are excited about the possibility of these two talents teaming up.
De Bruyne has frequently assisted goal-scoring machine Erling Haaland at Manchester City, and fans are buzzing about the potential for Yamal to join the Premier League in the future. One fan posted on X: “KDB and Yamal passing to Haaland would result in hat-tricks every game.” Another commented, “KDB with Yamal, Pedri, Raphinha, and Haaland would be unbeatable.” A third fan suggested, “Bring him to City now; Foden can play centrally and with KDB, we’d be set.” A fourth fan proposed, “Sign him for City and send Nunes to them if they want him.”
Yamal is secured by a remarkable contract at Barcelona that would make a transfer challenging for other clubs. He extended his contract in October 2023, tying him to the team until at least 2026. While he might be tempted to move in the future, his current release clause is a staggering €1 billion ($1.05 billion).
Former Barcelona coach Xavi praised Yamal’s maturity and composure despite his young age. In April, Xavi noted, “He is very calm and handles his situation well. He is mature, responsible, and aware of his circumstances. His humility and distinctive abilities are evident. He has the potential to influence football significantly, especially at Barcelona. We hope to see him continue at this high level. On a personal level, he is a cheerful and joking young man who is enjoying himself and is happy.”
